Nonverbal language in public speaking

Concept description

Nonverbal language in public speaking: what to do, what to avoid

Nonverbal communication has a major impact on how we are perceived by others - and in public speaking, body language can support or undermine what we say. This training pill gives participants the opportunity to observe and adjust their gestures, posture, mimicry and eye contact to support confidence, clarity and authenticity of speech.

We practise the difference between natural presence and fidgeting, between expressiveness and parasitic gestures, between empathic eye contact and averting your gaze. We emphasize coherence between verbal and non-verbal so that the message conveyed is complete and credible.

This is a great session for those who already have some public speaking experience but want to refine their delivery and stage presence.

🔗 It fits well with teambuilding activities involving: speech simulations, acting or improvisation exercises, observation and feedback in pairs, 'communicating without words' games, filmed presentations.
