Olympic Village

Are you looking for a team activity that simulates the communication process in an organization with perception barriers and limited time resources?

Do you also want to mark the year of the Paris Olympics?

Olympic Village is the right choice for you! Participants work in sub-groups coordinated by an ad-hoc chosen leader whom we will call architect. The common goal of all is to build an Olympic Village, taking into account a series of criteria that relate to its final functionality.

Up to this point, the goal seems easy to achieve. To complicate the task a bit, we only allow participants to communicate through architects. The start of the activity allows a good observation of how to approach, prioritise and fix the information that is vital for the project to get started. As working time is limited, each team leader must ensure that they have the necessary data to guide their team properly. I have found time and time again that, despite the time pressure, the activity allows participants to be creative, interact and internalize the common goal. The moment of truth is the one everyone has been waiting for: uniting the city and assessing the fulfilment of the readings.

At the end, we debrief the activity and make a parallel to the communication within your organisation, so that the conclusions from this activity remain relevant in your daily work.
